As Pioneer DJs design agency we are always called upon to create the graphics for each new product launch. Their new controller - the FLX4, had a unique proposition being aimed at a broader audience of budding DJ's, whilst still having a professional layout.
The brief for this project called for a retro-futuristic feel, with a cartoon/anime look and feel; combining collage elements with hand drawn lettering.
As with most design briefs the project began with creating mood boards and gathering sources of inspiration. The difference this time was, we weren’t only looking for a visual primer but also sourcing a talented illustrator to bring our ideas to life. Working with Pioneer DJ we formulated a rough plan for what our key visual composition should look like and found an incredible illustrator Kervin Brisseaux to bring it to life.
Kervin produced rough sketches to begin with and we worked closely with him and the client to refine and perfect the illustration. We combined these drawings with visuals of the product and even created a bank of other illustrated elements which could be used as stickers and graphic flourishes across our marketing campaign.
As is standard with any product we launch with Pioneer DJ, we produced a comprehensive suite of print and online advertising, including motion graphics and social media posts.
